We believe that parents are the single most important spiritual influence in their children’s lives.
Here at IBC we believe that parents are the single most important spiritual influence in their children’s lives. The job is an awesome and challenging opportunity to shape the life of your child now and for eternity. We believe that our role is to equip, encourage and support parents, not take their place. Below we have listed some resources that we believe are helpful. IBC also periodically offers classes that deal with parenting issues.
Our pastors are here to help you should you desire to discuss family concerns with them.
National Center for Biblical Parenting
The National Center for Biblical Parenting has a vision to help parents change the way they think about parenting. The scriptures are relevant and practical for families of all types, whether they are traditional families, single parent families, or blended families. Their goal is to provide practical biblical resources, parenting conferences and local parenting support groups. They also offer a free email newsletter of parenting tips.
Focus on the Family
Focus on the Family’s mission is to cooperate with the Holy Spirit in sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with as many people as possible by nurturing and defending the God-ordained institution of the family and promoting biblical truths worldwide. Focus offers a host of resources for families, both written and online. They even provide a telephone counseling service staffed by licensed Christian counselors. Many of their resources are available at no cost.
Crosswalk
Cross Walk’s website strives to the freshest, most compelling Biblically-based content to Christians who take seriously their relationship with Christ. Crosswalk.com is based around four primary content areas-Faith, Family, Fun and Community. They offer several free family oriented email newsletters, an online forum to discuss family matters, movie reviews and Christian resources.
Family Fun
Although not Christian, this Disney-sponsored site has great ideas for family activities, games, parties and crafts. We go to it often for fun ideas. You might also want to check out their magazine by the same name.
